Lumiere London is "a spectacular festival of lights featuring dazzling light installations across the capital". A city-wide, interactive public art experience which in 2016 took place over 4 days and involved beautiful and immersive art exhibits, and events over many central London locations. Commissioned by the Mayor of London, and produced by Artichoke we were very happy to be contacted about our light-up candy floss - of course!

Festival of Lights

As part of the Kings Cross location, event organisers wanted to place 2 of our candy floss stands in the event hub, where the public would congregate, to hand out our glowing candy floss so guests could be part of the 'festival of lights'. Once guests had seen each art exhibit (and had their map stamped at each location) they could come and collect a free light-up candy floss!

Popular with everyone!

Our candy floss stands were set up in the event hub - a glowing dome featuring UV glow dancers, projections, bands and DJs - so our glowing candy floss fitted in perfectly with the theme. Organisers Produce UK had allocated a generous 500 flashing sticks per night, however as soon as word got around our stalls were increasingly popular! The plaza was filled with both adults and kids enjoying their candy floss, waving and raving with their glowing sticks, and adding that extra touch to the event. Our light up candy floss was mentioned in the next day's Metro, and hundreds of hashtagged photos appeared on social media - nobody anticipated how popular it would be!

Social media attention

Due to the popularity of the light-up candy floss, organisers wanted to increase the numbers of give-aways for the next 3 nights, and we were able - at less than 24 hours notice - to adapt to the demand and provide almost twice the original amount. Social media attention remained high with event hash tags being used hundreds of times showing photos of our glowing candy floss.
